WordPress.com Does The Journalist Over

Thank you WordPress.COM for listening to your users.  (Great Big Sigh of Relief!)

If you are wondering why my lovely photoblog now suddenly looks like crap, WordPress.com decided to update The Journalist theme. Frankly I loved the way it was before with its subtle use of serif and sans-serif fonts, the strong graphic element of the Post Title bar “byline” as the first element in the post rather than Comments, the unique widget titles, all gone in the name of “lightness”.

The CliffsNotes™ version? Feh!

Pardon me while I go clean up the elements that can be handled from my end. Unfortunately, there also seems to be an image resizing problem, again. (sigh)

  1. M-actually you’re looking at the old version, which is 1.3. There was such a landslide of negative comments on the WordPress.COM blog announcement about updating the theme (click the link in my crossed-out post) that they decided to offer the old version as well as the new version. So glad they did.

The Journalist is one of a handful of WordPress.COM themes that have a wide posting area, which makes it great for photos too.

  2. Funny thing, I’ve just started experimenting with this theme… I think the old version is still available though.
