As I mused earlier, photographing your everyday surroundings is, I feel, more challenging than snapping photos of faraway places. Finding the beauty in things you are intimately or casually familiar with on a daily basis forces you to look at them differently. Portraiture, especially self-portraits, is my biggest photography shortcoming. This year I'm going to try to overcome my inhibitions about photographing people, including myself.
